Very cool song!

Hi everyone!
Got a new song for you that's quite nice. Well actually it is not that new but still worth sharing with you for the ones that don't know it. It's called 'Empire State of Mind' by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. It has a really nice piano and it is a great combination between rap and singing. I will try to learn the piano part over the coming week to improve my music skills.

Belgium for the weekend!

Hey everyone,
I've been to Belgium for the weekend, to Knokke. Don't know if you know the city but it's a nice place. I've seen a lot of street musicians and I really enjoyed it. I have explored some of the urban street music and I have enriched my brain database of arts. It's a really nice place and I would definitly advice you to go there. Not only to do some shopping, but also to enjoy the music played on the street. Oh and by the way, don't forget the nice beach borders to!

Music Test

Hi everyone,
I had a music test last week and I just wanted to reflect on it for a minute. I am of the opinion that I really made this test bad. However I am still positive about the test because I see a lot of progress in myself since my first music classes. I have noticed that I was able to do some things that I wouldn't be able to dream of earlier this year. I start to see patterns in notes and I hear them better. It is very basic, however for me it is a big step.I only started music lessons like two months ago and I think it is going quite well for a real music novice like me.
Anyways, I just wanted to update you on my music skills,

Someone else's favorite song: Snow

Hi again,
I have looked at another favorite song of someone. This time it is Snow by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I found this song on the blog about music by Nold, who is also a classmate of mine. I found this song very interesting because I already knew it but only from a long time ago. I listened to the Red Hot Chili Peppers when I was about ten years old. After this age I just never bought any song from them anymore. Listening to this song, which is quite a bit newer, made me look back to all the good times I had when I still listened to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In his blog he says that the drums, guitar etcetera are fantatstic and I totally agree with him. Reading his blog made me buy all the new songs of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as a matter of fact I am listening to the very song right now. I also found some other interesting songs on his blog that I quite like myself too. Such as ''Het regent Zonnestralen'' by Acda en de Munnik, he told me something about the song and he definity confinced me that this song is of great value. So this was it for looking at favorite songs of others, I will post some more things on my blog today and tomorow to get it up to date again.

Someone else's favorite song: Nacicillia

Hi everyone,
It's me again with a favorite song of someone else. This time it it Nacicillia by Dark providers. The song came from the blog of Matthias, who is a classmate of mine. I think this song was very interesting to hear. This is because it is a progressive house song and I normally don't listen to house. I do like this song a lot though because it has a very nice beat to it. I found it pleasant to listen to this song. Also my body totally relaxed when listening to this song. I think it was a very good experience that introduced me to the type of songs that I normally don't listen to. I will definitly listen more to house songs! When I looked a bit further on Mathhias his blog, I found a lot more songs I really liked such as: Autumn by John Dahlback. I will buy these songs the very next time I am in a music store again.

Someone else's favorite song: Fix You

The first song that I will be looking at is Fix You by Coldplay. It was the favorite song of Jochem, a classmate of mine who also has a blog. I knew this song already as I am quite like Coldplay. I always thought it was a nice song but Jochem made me look differently to this song because of his explenation. He made me realise not only to listen to the tune but also to the text. If listen to both the tune and the text, there is actually a lot of emotion in the song. I listened to the song again after reading his blog and I liked the song a lot more than I did last time. I have read all the emotions he felt while listening to the song and I actually felt quite a bit the same, only without the watery eye part...

I will be posting something for the weekend, just to get my blog up and running again. What I will be doing is, I will look at three other people that I know with a blog and I will look at their favorite songs.

Soweto

Hey everyone!
It’s weekend! But actually that is not the most important thing, what is more important it that today I will post my number one favorite song of today. And the winner is: ‘’Soweto’’ by the hieroglyphics! Soweto is a rap song but what really appeals me about this song is the very original beat. The beat mainly consists out of some sort of stringed instrument and drums. Also the voices are a combination of rapping and normal singing. All the refrains are normally sung but everything outside of the refrain is rapped. What adds up to this effect is that the singing is done by a woman and the rapping is done by multiple man. This gives a very nice contrast and makes it very good to listen to. So this was it for the series of my favorite songs. I hope you enjoyed it and maybe you understand my taste of music better after reading it.
Cheers!

SOS

Hi people,
No this is no ‘’save our soul’’ blog, but it is another post to the question which five songs I would listen if I were to get lost in the desert with battery power left to listen only five songs. Today’s song is ‘’SOS’’ by Rihanna. SOS is a combination between dance/R&B and was released in 2006. What I like about this song is just the fact that Rihanna managed to make a great combination between dance and R&B. It is a song that both R&B listeners as well as dance listeners can enjoy at the same time. The song basically consists of a dance beat in the background and R&B singing. It is a great song that you should definitely try to listen to if you haven’t already heart it. Anyways, see you tomorrow for the final song that is on number one of my favorite song list.

Until the stars fall from the sky

Hi dear followers,
Today is Thursday and I have been listening all day to this new song I found lately. This song is called ‘’Until the stars fall from the sky’’ and is composed by Mark Hoppus. It is on the third place of my favorite songs at the moment. Until the stars fall from the sky is a song that is very hard to classify in a certain group as the song is a combination of all sorts of things. Firstly it sounds a bit like a rock song as there is an electrical guitar which play’s for quite a big part of the song. However the singing has nothing to do with rock, it is more like pop. What I really like about this song is that they have found a way to change from electrical guitar to steel drums in the song and it totally makes sense. Also this song is very happy and will probably give you a happy feeling.
That was the song for today, be sure to check it out and see you tomorrow!

Little by Little

Hello everyone,
It is a new day, so a new favorite song! The song that comes in at the 4th place of my favorite songs is ‘’little by little’’ by the Chicharones. Little by little is a rap song and it was made by the Chicharones, a quite infamous group. I like this song so much because also this song is an alternative rap song that doesn’t sound like any other rap song. The thing that makes this song so different is the piano that continues throughout the song. The biggest part of the beat in the background is performed by the piano together with drums. What I also like about this song is that , unlike in most raps, the background music isn’t only performed by instruments but voices are also used.
See you tomorrow!

Sorry, Sorry!

Hello everyone.
As you may have noticed, the blogs for my five favorite songs haven't been updated since tuesday. I would like to appoligize for this. I was very busy with school and so I didn't have time to upload the blogs. I did already make the blogs though in my notebook and this afternoon I will put the text onto my computer and upload them on my website. The blogs will be uploaded in order of how much I like them, just to be sure we are on the same page.
Stay Tuned

My favorite music

What five music songs will I listen when I'm lost in the desert and my iPod only has enough battery power to play five full songs. This is the question that I will be answering in the coming five days. Everyday I will upload a blog with one of the songs I like most and with a description why. Today's song is Deliverance by Bubba Sparxxx. Deliverance is a song that I like very much because Bubba Sparxxx has accomplished to deliver a song that is both classified as country and rap. He has created a great balance between the two, a nice country style beat in the background with on top a sort of soft rapping. The main instrument used in this song is an acoustic guitar, which is not so common for rap songs but very common for country songs. The fact that this song is so different from other rap and country songs makes it very enjoyable to listen to. Also Bubba Sparaxxx has made a nice text with good rhymes. What is nice about this song too, and immediately noticed is that this song doesn't contain even one bad word. Mostly in rap songs, rappers use a lot of slang and bad words but Bubba Sparxxx made rhymes that could be just as well in a soul song. To add things up, this song is just a dream to listen to and should definitely be one of the songs to listen to when lost in a desert with only 5 songs left.

Why do we need music?

In my opinion, music is one of the most important things in the world. Music enjoys people, unites people and often causes emotions to the audience. Music, for many people, is a way to express themselves. People can tell others about their joy or sadness in life in songs. In this way it also unites allot of people as music is a language without boundaries. We speak this language all over the world and we have all applied our own dialects in a way. This dialect divines the people and their personal opinion of music as a form of culture. For example the style of music that originates Africa is totally different from the music that originates Australia, we hear this difference clearly but we understand each other at the same time. Also music is often used to add a certain atmosphere or emotion to a setting. Take for example movies: image watching an action scene in James Bond with no exciting tune on the background. Or Romeo and Juliet with no emotional songs, this will totally take away the romance of it all. Without music, this world would be a quite place. No music on the radio in traffic jams, no iPods, very little emotion in movies and it would defiantly take away a world language, a language that most of the people on this planet understand.

My experience in music

For my whole life I have always loved music. I listen music on my Ipod in the car, when I come home from school, before sleeping and when driving my bycicle. However, I have experienced first hand that it is way more easy to listen to music, than to actually compose and play music. I always had the dream of being able to play the music that I have on my Ipod on the piano instantly. Therefore I have followed two years of piano lessons. However in these two years I have concluded that I miss the patients needed to study a song before you can actually play the song flawlessly. I didn't study enough and progression was slow. This conclusion has led to the fact that I stopped following lessons for the piano after only two years. Now I play piano often just at home and I study only the songs that I really like at my own tempo. This said it can take me just one week to learn a whole song but if I don't really feel like it, one song can take me more than three month. Also I like to ''freestyle'' on the piano, which means just playing what comes up in my head without any thinking involved.
